A line-up of India’s top Badminton players descended the city for the “38th PSPB inter-unit badminton championships”, which was held at the KBA courts on May 8 to 12’2017. The Inter Unit championships, had K. Srikanth, P. Kashyap, Manu Atri, Arun Vishnu, and Ajay Jayaram in its ranks, being the defending men’s team champion. The championship also enjoyed the services of P.V. Sindhu and Saina Nehwal, was the reigning women’s champion. ONGC had the likes of Sourabh Verma, H.S. Prannoy, Sai Praneeth, Ashwini Ponappa, and Rituparna Das also on its roster.

Prakash Padukone Sports Management conducted probably the biggest junior tournament of the season in Karnataka this year. The PPSM State Ranking Badminton Tournament for Sub Juniors and Juniors 2017 held in Bangalore at two venues viz. the Karnataka Badminton Association Stadium on Jasma Bhavan Road and the DYES Badminton Courts within the Sri Kanteerava Stadium premises, Cubbon Park. The tournament had competitions in singles and doubles in the Under 13, 15, 17, and 19 age categories for both boys and girls and mixed doubles for the Under 19 category, making it 17 events overall. The event attracted about 800 entries from all over Karnataka and 500 players will be competing in the same.

After successfully conducting the Karnataka Junior State Ranking Tournament, the action moved to the 16th Union Bank All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament that began at the Karnataka Badminton Association courts on Monday wherein 1789 of India's top young Badminton players participated.
The Tournament organized by Prakash Padukone Sports Management (PPSM) under the aegis of Karnataka Badminton Association and Badminton Association of India. The prize money is Rs 3 lakh. The matches were played over six days started with the qualifying rounds on 19th June, 2017 and concluding with the finals being played on the 25th June, 2017. Performance in this tournament will be considered for selection to the Indian Team for the Junior World Championships which will be held in Yogjakarta, Indonesia, in the month of October.
